Working at a lingerie retailer, I get a bit excited in anticipation of the holiday seasons between December and February ’cause that is when the men start to trinkle into the department and I get my “giggles”. There are typically about 3 different behaviors of men that dare to enter the lingerie department to find that special gift for their significant other.
1. Knows exactly what he wants- sizes, styles, etc. Wants to get in and get out. A rare find.
2. Is so nervous to even be in the lingerie department that he sort of attempts to browse on his own but when approached bolts out of embarrassement. I have actually seen a man, bend over with his hands on his knees in an attempt to regain his breath he was so distressed by his venture into the “panty” area.
3. The third is my favorite: the male that wants enough to find something for his sweetheart, but trusts WHATEVER opinion his faithful salesperson can impart.
Also amusing to me are the various answers received when probing to figure out what sort of lingerie garments the men are looking for:
Me: What size is she?
Male: Well………..she looks like you.
Really? Apparently the vast majority of women in Chicago are a 32D size medium. Interesting…………………….
or
Me: What size bra does she wear?
Male: Ummmmmmmm Medium, definately medium……
Truelly, I feel if your honey is one of any of these three brave souls, he deserves to be commended for venturing into the jungle of lingerie that can seem particularly daunting to many men.
